Will Sell Out for Food

by adamapple76

There is this saying, when God closes a door, somewhere a window opens. I tend to think that this may be why churches are so drafty, but I digress.

God opened a window last week. After sending my column to all my family and friends online (all three of them) my brother contacted me. He told me about a tv studio in DC. He said they were desperate for people to do stuff and would air anything.

So I call the place, figuring it would be at least decent experience. I thought they just rented you studio time. I find this out.

They offer a course, the A - Z of television training. Studio work, field work, direction, production, editing, lighting and sound.

All on the cameras I intended to use for my business. So I went yesterday,r egistered for the first three courses. The best part?

From A-Z costs $405 dollars. And then they air whatever you make.

The place? Nah, must keep that a secret so people don't flood the place. Ok it's www.dctvonline.org They are a non-profit community based tv station. The website is pretty sparse, but you can get contact information You can go there and register, even if you aren't a DC resident.

And I know what your thinking. What kind of equipment do they have there? Well, they use Apple iMovies for editing. All the cameras are Canon digital cameras. Which from what I understand that camera has become kinda a standard for digital filmmaking. I saw it in Swordfish more times that I saw Halle Berry's breast. Hershey's Kisses anyone?

So I am excited. While it isn't an understudy at Dreamworks (more coffee, Mr. Spielberg's assistant?) it is something noteworthy in my ongoing struggle to become a filmmaker.

Be nice if I could afford to actually use film one day though.
